Tour Surprise!
If you’ve taken a few minutes to listen to our new song, Desperation (http://soundcloud.com/theactiondesign), you’re probably thinking, “Where and when can I purchase this song to have it as my own?”  Well, we are very proud to announce that we have our first vinyl for release!!

Thanks to the brilliant people (a.k.a. Josh) at Pandacide Creative Lending, we’ve been able to press 500 copies of a 2-song 7” record, simply entitled Desperation. For those of you who don’t own a turntable, not to worry! Each copy comes with its own download card, so you can have digital copies as well. Each copy is completely hand-decorated and hand-numbered by the band, so each one will be a little bit different! The covers are screen printed, spray painted, stickered and markered. Each 100 copies are written on with a different color – you can collect all 5!
So where and whencan you get these Desperation 7”s, you might ask? We’ll start selling them tomorrow night in Sacramento to kick off our summer tour!! They’re going to cost $5 each, and each person is limited to 5 copies. For those of you who are not going to be able to attend any of the upcoming shows, we’ll be posting them for sale in our online store tomorrow, and there will be roughly 150 copies available that way. 350 will go with us on the road, and whatever is left over at the end of the tour will be added to the store’s inventory. We’ll give you the link to order as soon as it’s ready tomorrow.
We’re so glad to finally have these in our hands, and we can’t wait for you to see them! High fives all around – thanks to everyone who helped make this possible!

2011, anyone?

Now that we’ve officially started the second half of 2010, it’s time we all start thinking about calendars for 2011… right?? I’m not just talking ANY 2011 calendars. I’m talking about Action Design calendars! They were quite a hit last year, and I swore to myself I’d get started early for 2011. So here we are – it’s July and it’s time to get started!

Remember how last year’s calendars had a lot of photos we took ourselves, and there were a few live shots from friends? This year I want to try something different. I want YOU to submit your best Action Design photos to us, and the 12 photos we deem the best will be put into the calendar! I’m bringing this all up right now because we’re about to embark on an almost full US tour where you’ll have lots of opportunities to take some great photos to submit. Of course, the photos don’t HAVE to be from this tour at all. They could be from any time. But if you plan on taking some during this tour with the intention of submitting, think about getting some different shots -- individuals, partial group shots, etc. It’s really hard to get a good live shot of the entire band all at once! Buddy shots count as well – if you have a real standout shot of yourself with one of the band members, feel free to submit that too. Or just band members standing around. Or Pegasus. Or anything tAD-related!

Oh, and the owners of the 12 best photos will not only get their photo credit in the calendars (of course), but will also get to order their calendars at half price (…I can’t bring myself to make them free, considering each one is painstakingly made by hand)! They’re going to be $25 this year instead of $20 (see previous aside), and I may set a limit on the number to be made (haven’t decided that one yet).

You have from now until October 1st to submit your photos. To submit, please email NO MORE THAN FIVE photos to theactiondesign@yahoo.com with “Calendar Photos” in the subject line. Please include your name as you would like to be credited, as well as the location/venue and city where the photo was taken.

I’m really looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with for this tAD group project!

The formula has been written: the Aquabats + the Action Design + Koo Koo Kanga Roo = pure fun!  Even though we only played 8 shows with these dudes, they were some of the greatest ever.  We had lots of adventures over such a short period of time, which include (but are not limited to) Disney World, gator watching in the wild, pool parties (real ones AND on stage), lots of dancing, silly costumes, and sweat.  Definitely one of the sweatiest tours we’ve done, since half of the shows were in Florida.  We took lots of random pictures that we uploaded to our facebook page if you’re interested.  And while you’re surfing the interweb, make sure to check out the Aquabats and Koo Koo Kanga Roo!  What a bunch of quality dudes.  We had a blast sharing the stage with them, and thanks a million to the Aquabats for inviting us on such a lovely road trip.  And, of course, thanks to everyone who came to the shows and danced with us and had a good time.  It was great meeting you all!
 
Next up on the books – Social Distortion!  In approximately 8 short weeks, we’ll be back out on the east coast to kick off a tour with the legendary Social D.  Then we’ll travel with them all the way back across the northern part of the country to get home.  Can’t wait!!  Make sure to get your tickets early, because some of the shows are already sold out!

I'm sooo happy to say we are leaving on a tour soon! I realize that cramming 5 people into a van and driving 10 hours a day only to get on a stage and get drenched with sweat night after night, might not sound like a good time to some people. We however are gluttons for this brand of punishment. Why? Cause we love playing music and hanging out with you! I'm looking forward to having drinks with old friends (new ones too), dance parties (in the van and out), taking pictures of randomness, and filming tour vlogs to share with you. We have the honor of sharing the stage once again with our buds in The Aquabats and play a few dates with a rad band called Hypernova from Iran/NYC.

Our own internet TV show!

Special announcement: We, the Action Design, have decided we want to communicate with you even more directly. We're putting together our own LIVE online TV show!!

On this TV show, we'll be doing all kindsa different things. We'll be having lively and (hopefully) entertaining discussions, question and answer segments, showings of videos and clips we've made just for you, and we’ll play some acoustic songs live. We hope to eventually have guests on our show, and we're also taking suggestions for other things you think would be interesting. It's still a work in progress, but we'd love it if you joined us!

Our first episode is going to be this coming Wednesday, March 3rd on our website (the link is below). The show will be from 7 to 8pm, west coast time. While we’re broadcasting, you'll be able to IM us any questions you have and we'll answer them live. The first episode will probably be just Em & Jaycen -- we need more cameras before we can fit everyone. So think of your questions, and add us to your friend list!

“Landmines” Video coming VERY SOON!

Yes everyone, it’s FINALLY that time. You’ve all been waiting so very patiently since we gave you hints about the video months ago, and your patience is about to pay off!

But the success of the release of said video is HIGHLY dependent upon you. I mean, we’ve seen it already. Our goal is for all of you to see it, and all of your friends, families, co-workers and acquaintances, and all of THEIR friends, families, co-workers and acquaintances! Sounds like a lot of work, but really it isn’t, considering how magical the internet is. And we would love to get you guys involved in helping promote this video.

There is an easy way that this can be done, and there’s an incentive too. We’re going to be having a contest through our ReverbNation page, which will explain all of the details. If you haven’t signed up to be part of the ReverbNation revolution, please do! It’s super easy and you have the chance to win all sorts of unique prizes AND help us spread our Pegasus wings at the same time. You also have access to a host of different live/special tracks we’ve recorded, extra videos, etc.

So as I write this I'm waiting for Pegasus to get out of the shop to pack her up and leave for a couple shows with the Aquabats. So at this point we'd like to say the biggest/hugest/loudest THANK YOU to everybody that threw some of their hard earned cash our way to help Save Pegasus! We are eternally grateful for your help! Seriously, I'm not kidding. We honestly don't know what we would've done without you and your generosity.

In other exciting news, we are putting the finishing touches on some new songs that we're gonna release in early 2010. We'll give you some specifics soon, but until then you can watch the Studio Vlog Part Deux.

So we just got home from tour a few days ago, and found ourselves to be more busy off the road then while we were out. I just loaded a new tour vlog short as well as all the other tour vlogs in the media section. We have some new Cali dates added with the Aquabats plus we're adding more shows here and there. On top of all that, we have some more updates coming down the pipeline, (i.e. video, new songs, etc.) So STAY TUNED, CHECK BACK, and most of all COME AGAIN!

Tonight is the first show of our Fall Tour here in Oklahoma City at an awesome venue called Sauced, We've been in the van for the past 40 hours or so and we're all going a little stir crazy (See Tour Vlog). We're excited to be back in OKCity and super pumped to play a show tonight.
